July Update: Independence Day Celebration at Monticello

Right now we are preparing for the upcoming Independence Day Celebration at Monticello! As we get ready for this exciting day, we thought we would take a look back at last year's event. If you can't make it in person this year, we will be streaming the event live at monticello.org.

Since 1963, more than 3,000 people from all over the world have taken the oath of citizenship at the annual Monticello Independence Day Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony. In past years, this event has featured accomplished speakers such as Coca-Cola CEO Muhtar Kent, gymnast Nadia Comaneci, and musician Dave Matthews, and will feature this week David Rubenstein of The Carlyle Group. 

We are looking forward to this year's event on Friday July 4th! Come check out the 52nd Annual Independence Day Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony at Monticello! The ceremony begins at 9:00AM and there will be an open house to follow.

Transformation Tuesday: Virginia Film Festival Late Night Wrap Party 2013

Welcome to our Transformation Tuesday series, where once a month we'll be looking back at events that allowed us to reshape environments using technology, light, and decor!

This is our 10th year working with the Virginia Film Festival and we are so excited to be part of it again! As we begin to plan for this year's festival taking place in November, we thought we would take a look back at some of last year's festivities!

Last year the Virginia Film Festival hosted their Late Night Wrap Party at the Main Street Arena, a local skating rink. We had a great time working on this event, and are looking forward to the festival this fall!

June Update: Architectural Panels

We've had a pretty busy year so far, so we thought we might send you an update on what we've been up to, and what we are excited to implement in upcoming events!

Over at The AV Company, we strive to meet our clients' needs while providing them with fun, visually interesting, exquisitely composed environments that enhance the experience of their events. One tool that we've been using to achieve this lately is the architectural panel. These panels are versatile pieces that can be used in a multitude of ways. They can be custom-built, lit, and even projected upon (more on this next month!).

We recently had the pleasure of working with the Darden School of Business at UVA on this year's Principal Donor Celebration! For this event, we decided to use panels to frame the main stage area. Take a look at the stunning result!

Back in February, we also received the chance to work with UVA on their TEDxUVA student speaker competition. This thought-provoking event called for a contemporary sculptural element and with the help of the UVA School of Architecture, this is what was developed!

We're pretty excited to see this type of technology being developed further! Check out this new "SuperWall" from Atomic Design that we came across this week!
